For the first time all five of us including Dallas went on vacation together. We drowe to Friesland, located in the North of Holland, it's a very popular vacation destination for the Dutch and Germans. It's a 1 1/2 h drive from where we live, but you really feel like you are far away from home. The advantage of living in a small country :)

We stayed on a small island with only one house and a boat house on it. Opa has just bought a new boat which he had brought to the island. Opa has been searching for 2 years to find the right boat that would be suitable for himself and his grandchildren. We are all very happy he has finally found it, but of course Opa is the most happy.

Diederik got a really fun mouse and Oscar got a very nice wooden knight.

Since his birthday was on a Monday we celebrated it small on the actual birthday and the weekend after we had a party for him.

He didn't want to sleep all day and 5 minutes before the first guest arrived he couldn't keep his eyes open. When he finally woke up he had a great time opening all his nice presents.

This weekend Rob, my brother in law and I celebrated our birhtdays with the families. I will write more later, have to run to meet Jan Mark at the garage because there is something wrong with my car.....

Queensday is the biggest Dutch party day of the year, it's always held on the 30th of April. The reason why it's called Queensday is because it was the ex Queen Julianas birthday.

Everyone dresses up in Organge, since that is the last name of the Royal family. Everyone is allowed to sell whatever they want......when it comes to things....so there are some restrictions when it comes to food and drink. Children sell old toys or arrange games that people have to pay for to try. Or they sell lemonade or performe dance performances etc. For the adults there are concerts all over the country, beer tents and in our village the have things like jack russel raceses and horse and carriage "games". It is a lot of fun, even if it is bad weather people smile :)
